Learning openings finally makes sense

As someone new to the world of chess, with a 1400 ELO and a lot of curiosity, I often felt overwhelmed trying to learn chess openings for beginners.

I tried watching YouTube videos and reading books, but none of it really stuck. I couldn’t remember the names of the variations or understand which moves were common at my level.

Everything changed when I got the Main Openings Poster from MyChessPosters.com.

The visual tree structure helped me quickly understand which lines actually matter for beginners. The arrows are proportional to how often a move is played, which guided my learning. I didn’t need to guess anymore—I followed the arrows and understood why each move was relevant.

I finally grasped the difference between common replies to 1.e4 and 1.d4, and I could visualize where each line was going. The poster doesn’t try to teach grandmaster-level theory. Instead, it focuses on moves that are played at my level.

➡️ I now use it alongside my games on Lichess to revise my mistakes.
➡️ I’ve also shared it with friends who are also searching for the best chess openings by rating.

I’m now winning more games just by being more confident in the opening phase.
